Would you like to contribute to Swedish innovation and science diplomacy by promoting Sweden’s relations with India within innovation, science and higher education? We are currently looking for a Science and Innovation counselor at the Swedish Embassy in New Delhi.

Your working day – Sweden’s tomorrow

You will represent the knowledge nation Sweden and promote innovation and science collaborations and investments. The work is conducted in the areas of innovation, science and higher education. You will contribute to political processes, manage incoming and outgoing delegation trips and support the Team Sweden work in the country. Furthermore, your role will be a brokerage function – that is, identifying and linking actors and environments for innovation and science collaboration in the Swedish and Indian innovation systems, respectively. The role also includes a managerial responsibility for the section science, innovation and higher education at the embassy in New Delhi.

What we are looking for

You who have a university degree, preferably a degree at doctoral level and with international studies. You have international experience and experience from politically controlled organizations or public administration. Furthermore, you have experience from the Swedish innovation and science ecosystem and of international science and innovation cooperation. The role requires a Swedish citizenship, but you may have a foreign background.

To succeed in the role, you have a well-developed ability to collaborate, create networks and build relationships. You are analytical and outgoing, good at communicating and can express yourself well in speech as well as in writing, in both Swedish and English. You are self-sufficient, structured and enterprising with good ability to independently lead and plan your and your colleagues’ work. There is also a need to be quality-conscious and result-oriented and you obviously have a good judgment. The role assumes responsiveness and capacity to adapt to changing needs.

The role involves personnel responsibility, so it is important that you have leadership experience. It is also an advantage if you have experience from collaboration between the public sector, business and academia. Furthermore, it is an advantage if you have experience from international entrepreneurship and from international promotion work. If you have knowledge of policy development in science and innovation, as well as experience from the Government Offices, this is also an advantage.
