What are the Sweden-Brazil Innovation Weeks?
Since 2012, the Sweden-Brazil Innovation Weeks are an annual umbrella activity organized by Team Sweden in Brazil and coordinated by the Embassy of Sweden in Brasília. During two weeks, several innovation related events take place in different cities in Brazil in strategic important themes such as aeronautics, sustainable cities, forestry, mining etc. During this period delegations of researchers, government and industry can participate in seminars, workshops, visits, matchmaking and meetings. In 2020 the main focus will be on Sustainability.
Opportunity to know Brazilian partners
During the Innovation Weeks visits and matchmaking are arranged with Brazilian partners. In 2019 RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden), SENAI (National Service for Industrial Training) and Embrapii (Brazilian industrial research and innovation company) had an important startup-industries-academy matchmaking to approximate, make a first contact and thus be able to set up bilateral projects in the area of innovation. In 2019, Brazil and Sweden had two bilateral open calls Vinnova-Senai in Bioeconomy and Vinnova-Fapesp in several areas. In 2020 it is expected to be launched a new call between Vinnova and Embrapii. So, the Sweden-Brazil Innovation Weeks would be a great opportunity for Swedish Researchers and Industry to learn more about the Brazilian ecosystem for Research and Innovation and maybe even find an adequate partner for bilateral cooperation.
What are the areas
Innovation Weeks 2020 will focus on Sustainability. The sustainability themes will be integrated with the four areas of the SGI agenda: sustainable mining, bioeconomy, life science and smart cities. Also, focus will be on the aeronautical domain.
