This will be the last blog before the summer break in Sweden so the OSI Brasilia will take the opportunity to sum up what can be expected for the last half of the year.
The first semester of the year has been challenging because of the Covid-19 and as for most other people the OSI-Brasilia have been working from home office mostly through virtual meetings. However, we have succeeded in maintaining the momentum in our bilateral strategical cooperation on innovation operated by the Ministry of Enterprise and innovation in Sweden (MEI) and Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) in Brazil. It should here be mentioned that the former name of the Brazilian ministry was MCTIC where the last “C” stood for communication but since last week, this is now a separate ministry.
Through our bilateral dialog, we have managed to create common Action Plans in three important areas: Bio Economy, Smart Cities and Sustainable Mining. We are also working on completing an Action Plan in Life Science (focus healthcare) which probably will be ready after the Swedish summer holidays. These Action Plan will set dates for matchmakings, seminars, delegation visits and will therefore enhance the action of the Funding Agency Working Group. The Action Plan were proposed by point of Contacts from Brazil (MCTIC and other ministries) and Sweden (Rise and SIPs).
Regarding the upcoming semester the most important event will be our yearly innovation weeks which will occur during two weeks between the 9th to the 20th of November. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, most of the event will probably be web-based. We are still in the planning phase, but some important event can be mentioned here:
High level group meetings: The Steering Group on Innovative High Technological Industrial Cooperation (SGI) and the High-Level Group on Aeronautics (HLG) will have their meeting on the 10th of November (TBC). One point on the agenda will be for the SGI to approve the four Action Plans (mentioned earlier in this blog text).
During the 11th and 12th of November, we are planning for two Co-creation days with Vinnova. One part will be with focus on how to work with mission-oriented innovation and another part will be with panel-discussion involving the four sub-groups for bilateral cooperation (Bio Economy, Smart Cities, Sustainable Mining and Life Science).
Sweden innovation days
The 17th to the 19th of November, Vinnova will carry out their international innovation days with about 10 different countries involved, one of them Brazil. Focus will be on AI and startups including match making.
The Swedish embassy will also plan for a series of bilateral webinar in the second week (the 16th to 20th of November) in thematical areas such as Green Cities, Waste Management, Aeronautics. Other themes will be determined soon. We are also open for suggestion to present ongoing bilateral cooperation between Sweden and Brazil.
