Warm greetings from the Science and Innovation Office at the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing!

Who are we?

We are a team of four, with professional backgrounds and hands-on working experience in the fields of research and innovation policies, innovation- and sustainability-driven economic transformation, plus electric engineering, computer science and environment- and climate related policy issues.

The working languages at our office are Swedish, English and Chinese.

What is our mission?

China is different, China is complex and China’s role in the global knowledge- and innovation landscape as well as in the global sustainability transformation is rapidly changing.  What does it mean for Sweden, in terms of both challenges and opportunities? What role can bilateral cooperation between Sweden and China play – for the strategic and long-term competitiveness of both countries and for the global good? Our mission is to contribute to the creation of deepened knowledge, mutually beneficial partnership and positive impact.

How do we work?

  • We watch policy-, market and technology trends in China that are important for the development of Sweden’s research and innovation systems and policies.
  • We identify and build up strategic partnerships and networks in China – who have shared mind-sets and practices for joint research and innovation cooperation.
  • We promote and enhance the visibility of Sweden in China as a leading knowledge and innovation nation in the world.
  • We communicate and promote Sweden’s ambition to become one of the world’s first fossil-free welfare nations.

We will share our observations and thoughts through this blog with you. We are looking forward to your feedback, reflections and suggestions on how we can improve and how we can make joint efforts and a difference – together.
